Murky Coffee, Closed

Saturday, March 1, 2008

The Murky Coffee on Capitol Hill is still closed as of today. Voice of the Hill has reported that Murky owes around $220,000 in back taxes and fines to the D.C Government. A new posting on murkycoffee.com says that they have submitted the paper work and were hoping to be open this week but most likely will be open sometime early next week.

I was sort of supprised that a well established coffee shop that doesn’t lack a customer base would be this hard up not to pay taxes. There coffee is very tasty and the atmosphere is great. There is still another location in Clarendon if you are having coffee convolutions.

Update: Yesterday when I was at the Eastern Market I walked past Murky. Signs where posted all over there front windows with the DC Flag and the words Seized on them. Every other place was booming but Murky!
