On the Set of Eagle Eye

Monday, March 10, 2008

Today on the way home from work I noticed a portion on New Jersey Ave SE (closest to the Capitol) was blocked off and a production crew was setting up what looked like a movie set. Nosy me decided to ask someone what was going on. It was indeed a set for the movie Eagle Eye. I immediately called my girlfriend, who was at home to look up Eagle Eye on IMdb. Before dinner around 5pm we decided to take a walk over and see if anything was going on. Turned out that they didn’t have much more set up from when I passed by the first time. Around 8pm we went back again to catch some live action on the set. It was Shia LaBeouf driving a car towards the Capitol getting out and running through the cars heading towards the Library of Congress. He stops at a Red Hyundai and shouts “Which way to the Library of Congress?” The driver points and Shia is off running full steam ahead towards D Street. Here are some takes that I filmed on my point and shoot.

The first one is Shia getting tripped up by the cars and they had to redo it.

The second one was a good segment.

And the last one here was being filmed from inside the car.

It was pretty cool to be on a set watching this type of production. I guess now I will have to watch the movie. Also, I will have to ask around at the Library of Congress to see if they will be shooting any film there. I have posted pictures too on my flickr site.

Hey, I just found this on google (i was looking to see if anyone got any pics/video). I’m the guy standing next to you in the first 2 vids when you’re looking towards the capitol building….well, the back of my head anyway. I got to meet him after filming before he got mobbed by everyone and I was able to snag the only 2 autographs that he signed for anyone :)

Talk about an exciting night. Thanks for the great vids!

Hey Mike that’s awesome! What time did the filming eventually end? Do you have any of the photos that you took posted online, I would love to see them.

I actually didn’t have a camera, but I was there with 3 friends who did. I will let you know once those pics are up because I’m sure there are a lot of them!

Hrm, I wonder if they’re the ones with all the movie equipment and trucks parked in the lot next to 11th between H and NY Ave.

Could be! The trucks are from Pleasent, PA or something like that. The company is something like Horad, The can do people. The company name is not exactly like that but something in that area.
