Whether or not the subscription fees are worthwhile depend partly on how you use a gps unit. To me it's worthwhile just to not have to bother with purchasing future map updates and to have the connected search. The "True Traffic" is another bonus that has helped me avoid getting stuck on several occasions already. The unit is far from perfect as a standalone gps but with the connected updates that will improve as time goes on.
