Subway Safety, Difference between US and Eastern Europe

Thursday, May 29, 2008

When I was on the subway in Germany (Berlin) and In Hungry (Budapest) the rail car doors open before the train comes to a complete stop.  People exit the car while the train is still moving and it makes for a quicker stop at the station.  Also not all of the doors open when approaching the station.  If you want to exit or enter you have to press the button on the side of the car.  Safety is not a high concern in these eastern European countries, at least on the subway.  Just look at the latest report from Metro on doors opening early on approach to the station.  It happens a couple of times a month in the US and they go nuts.  It happened at ever station where I was overseas.

Oh yeah they also allow guns on the subway in Budapest, Hungry.  Picture to follow when I get home tonight!
