WMATA iPhone App

Let’s build a Metro Map, which is free, that shows train times, which are posted on the monitors in every station, and put it on the iPhone, which requires AT&T and doesn’t work in the Metro, and charge you $15.00!
Sounds logical…where do I sign up? The iPhone app is called iTrans DC

The app doesn’t even use the Internet. The whole point is that it works offline.
That’s even worse…so people are going to pay $15 for a static map when they can get one for free in the station. It’s called a pocket map…they are usually located next to the station managers.
I’d recommend checking out http://www.meenster.com/#_lines
Wmata has a sweet widget for the apple dashboard. I would love to have that as an app. I would not need it in the station because I can see the train times while I am on the platform. But it would be sweet to know when the next train is when I am above ground, where the phone works.
@Mark – have ou checked out the PointAbout app. They have a pretty cool iphone app that uses your GPS coordinates and tells you the closest train station and then gives you train times. You can find it by searching for PointAbout in the app store.
@Justin, Meenster.com needs to update the app. looks like WMATA updated the feed and they didn’t update the app
iTrans DC sells for just $1, and having it on your phone (which you must be carrying all the time anyway) is certainly more convenient than having to carry the map around with you everywhere. Also, the app allows you to search faster and makes more info readily available than a printed map.
