As a regular rider of the 30's routes, my overall sense is that we are safe on the bus. Sure some drivers seem a bit aggressive at times. If one is looking to understand the safety issue for buses - spend a day riding at front of bus so you can watch the crazy S**T the drivers must put up with everyday. And I am not talking about the folks in the bus. Commuter buses from MD, taxis, and folks in a hurry to wait in the next block ...

Sure a bus hits someone/something and the damage is real and significant. What's amazing to me is they hit so few of the real targets presented to them each day.

I remember one day walking by 2nd and East Capitol. A bus took a wrong turn down a road and the Capitol police were asking the bus to back up. The bus backed up right into a car. It pushed the car about 20 feet before the cops were able to tell the police officer to stop.
