Smithsonian to Charge Admission?

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

In an open meeting yesterday and the Smithsonian Institute passed around the idea of charging admission to all museums. Hopefully this doesn’t happen because Washington, DC is known for awesome museums that are Free!

I hope this doesn’t happen. After all, when people ask which museums to check out, I always tell them go the the Smithsonian museums because they’re free and some of the best in town. Unlike Spy Museum, Hillwood, the Corcoran, Crime & Punishment, etc. Starting to charge fees would be a huge mistake. It’s much easier to drop cash in the collection boxes. The administrative costs to add admission fees alone would up the museums budgets greatly. We need a web page protesting this! When can you get on that project? ;-)
