UDC to Phase in Tuition Hike

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

You can put a check in the win column for the students. UDC officials were planning on setting a huge tuition hike next year which would nearly double their cost for district residents. The cost was going to go from $3,800 to $7,000 a semester and $14,000 for out of state students. After many students protested, the board has decided to change the plan. They say Obama’s Stimulus plan will now help the school with costs but was this more of a political move based on all the negative news they have been getting? The cost now will increase progressively and will cost students $1,600 more for the fall and $1,700 more the next year.
George Washington University, the highest tuition cost in the nation, also is increasing there tuition costs in this down economy.
