Open Post: DC Snow Storm

Monday, March 2, 2009

Picture of the White House from this morning!

March 2nd

9:27am: It’s a snow day for many surrounding areas but DC is still up and running. DC Schools are still running on a 2 hr delay as is the Federal Gov’t. The roads and sidewalks are getting better! When I got to work at 7:30am Metro still hadn’t shoveled the Capitol South station and AOC was using snow blowers. Really snow blowers for 3 inches of fluff? What do you think of DC’s response?

5:48am: DC Schools jumped on the 2 hr delay. I think this was really just to make parents happy and eliminate phone calls to DCPS.

5:08am: Snow is still coming down hard. Roads are all snow covered on Capitol HIll. Not sure of accumulation but probably 3 inches or so. Get your latest closing and delays at wtop.com

March 1st

9:31pm: Snow coming down really hard right now on Capitol Hill

9:20pm: Snow still coming down but not as bad as earlier.

7:02pm: The snow is starting to stick to the grass areas on Capitol Hill. Hasn’t started to stick to the roads yet. They are just wet.

6:39pm: All the TV weather folks are have been talking about this big storm we are supposed to get. AlertDC has been posting messages that the big one is coming. The latest message was

4-8 inches of snow forecast for today. Snow emergency in effect at 4 p.m. No parking on snow emergency routes. For route map and more info, visit http://ddot.dc.gov.
