National Mall Signs: Will Cost Taxpayers $2.2 Million

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

The Signs are coming. At the beginning of March there was a rumor that signs could be pooping up on the National Mall to point people in the right direction and now that rumor has turned into a fact. But is it really worth $2.2 million?

The debate arises as the Mall is about to get a new $2.2 million sign system, funded by the federal government and the private Trust for the National Mall. Design research is underway, with a view to replacing the mishmash of signs on the Mall with a more uniform and user-friendly system that will probably use a series of color-coded pylons. – WaPo
