Who Stole the Bus Stop?

Recently Metro placed bus stops on Independence Ave next to the Library of Congress on both sides of the street. They dug up the sidewalk, put in footers and put the nice glass bus stops up. Two weeks later they are gone. Anyone know why? What a waste of money.

Maintenance Window: October 3, to Sunday, October 5

Track Maintenance: Metrorail customers traveling between the Stadium-Armory and Addison Road Seat Pleasant Metrorail stations should add at least 20 minutes of travel time because of floating slab replacement. Trains will share one track between these locations from 10 p.m., Friday, October 3, to closing (3 a.m.), Sunday, October 5. Floating slabs are large sections of concrete which rest on doughnut-shaped, rubber pads. The floating slabs support the railroad tracks over which the trains run and absorb vibrations and noise from trains.

Restaurant coming to Capitol Hill Tower?

So if you are not on twitter you need to be. You can find a ton of information and get answers to your questions pretty quickly. I recently saw a bit of information that I think I should share with all the residents of the Capitol Riverfront area. If you don’t follow JDLand on twitter then at least bookmark the site. This site is everything Capitol Riverfront and all the information you need to know. If you are wondering about something then it’s most likely on the site. But JDLand posted this on twitter which is awesome!

jdland: Rumors abound of a restaurant coming to Capitol Hill Tower. Developer tells me: “Not yet ready to announce but stay tuned.”

As a resident of Capitol Hill Tower I hope this is true. Once the first resturant opens the domino effect will happen.

$1.5B over 10 Yrs for Metro

The Senate passed a vote last night to give Metro $1.5B over 10 years for improvements and repairs. Metro last week told the public that they need about $11B to fix the entire system that is 32yrs old. Washington, DC has the second busiest rail system in the US. Hopefully Metro will take the money and first fix this bridge (at the end of the video 3:03 minutes in) that doesn’t look safe at all.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

You probably already noticed if you come to the site often but we have gone pink for the entire month of October! Why? Because October is “National Breast Cancer Awareness Month” and the least I can do is wear some pink. So my challenge to websites alike…let’s Go Pink for October!

DC DMV Fees Increase

Expect to pay more at the DC DMV for your license and car inspection. The increase shouldn’t break the bank though. It will cost $5.00 more ($44.00 total) for a license which the expiration date will increase 3 years and $10.00 more ($35.00) for an inspection which will increase the expiration date 2 years. I think is this a smart move. I’ll gladly pay $15.00 extra to stay away from the DMV line.

So what would you miss most if you had to move out of DC? My list is still sort of short since I have only been in DC less than a year but I think “A Variety of Ethinic Resturants” would be in the top 5 and “Politics” would be near the bottom.

Free Theater Tickets
