Nov 19th 2008

In an open meeting yesterday and the Smithsonian Institute passed around the idea of charging admission to all museums. Hopefully this doesn’t happen because Washington, DC is known for awesome museums that are Free!

Fenty’s Number…Do They Add Up?

Nov 19th 2008

Mayor Fenty is the only one saying that DC will get 3 to 5 million people for the inauguration!  Mr. Mayor where are you getting this number from?  Everyone else is reporting 1 to maybe 2 million people.  CNN looked to see if 5 million could even fit on the National Mall at one time and the answer was yes but each person could only have 1sq foot.

DC Teachers; Performance Based Bonuses

Nov 18th 2008

Serious question today!  Why don’t DC teachers or the Union want performance based bonuses? They are all set against this type of bonus model.  Are these teachers just in the system to earn there time and then retire?  When the Union and the teachers refuse performance bonuses it tells me and many others that they aren’t good teachers since they don’t want to put the effort into teaching!  They would just like to sit back and collect the paycheck and complain that DC is the worst School district in the country where 88% of 8th graders can’t read!  Let’s go for performance based raises!  Let the tax payers decide!

Car lots? Nope, Mayor says Stroage Lots

Nov 18th 2008

Yesterday the Mayor shut down 23 so called used car lots.  These lots are accused of abusing the law and not selling any cars in DC but shipping them overseas and using the lots as storage facilities.  Some lot owners told and showed Fox 5 DC some recent Bills of Sales.   Will this go to the courts?  Who will win?

You soon maybe able to buy a metro card (Smart Trip Cards only) at your local CVS.  That’s great and all but why isn’t there other places to add money to your card?  Why can’t I do this online or just have it refill automatically (like ez pass)?  I hate standing in line to put additional money on my card?

Be Street Smart!

Some word of advise if you are going to disobey traffic and street signals this week. DC and area police are holding a their “Street Smart” campaigns to cut down on people breaking the law. This not only goes for Vehicles but Bikers (who never obey the law) and pedestrians (who also never obey the law) who break the law or who are using deadly judgment. So if you don’t want a ticket then be smart!
